Ready to make work fun again?

Atlassian Open DevOps connects your entire software toolchain and data in one place. Unleash your creativity by creating a working software application, building a game that leverages data from Atlassian SAAS products, such as Jira issues and Bitbucket pull requests and commits, in fun and interesting ways using Atlassian Forge and REST APIs. Top contestants will be flown out to join us live in Berlin at the first ever Atlassian Presents: Unleash, present to a panel of celebrity judges, and compete for cash prizes.

The 3 grand prize finalists will be flown to Berlin to join us on February 9, 2023 to pitch their project at Atlassian presents: Unleash. That in-person pitch will be the deciding factor on who takes home the big prize. Book your calendars and start building your project.

Sample Game Ideas:

Build a rogue-like where the player fights monsters tied to various pieces of open work. Turn in progress Jira issues, open pull requests in Bitbucket, and active alerts in Opsgenie intro monsters to defeat. Epic Jira issues might be boss monsters and their sub-tasks might be minions. Players score higher the deeper they get into the game. Keep track of a leaderboard and award monthly prizes based on highest scores.

Build a golf game where each hole is an in progress Jira issue. The longer the issue has been in progress the longer the hole is. Add water hazards, sand traps, hills, and other obstacles based on items in the Development tab. Perhaps each commit in the Commits tab is a sand trap. Each pull request in the Pull Request tab is a water hazard. Have a leaderboard for each hole and award prizes once the Jira issue is complete.

Build an ARPG where the player’s avatar gains levels, and abilities-based experience gained by closing Jira issues, approving and merging pull requests, responding to alerts, and writing confluence docs. Each day recalculate the avatar's abilities and let the player guide the avatar through a scenario.

Please note: To be considered for the Grand Prizes, the Individual or at least one Individual (if a Team or Organization) must be eligible for travel to Berlin, have a valid passport, and be ready, willing, and participate in the in-person finalist presentation in Berlin on 9 Feb, 2023. It is your sole responsibility to review and understand your eligibility for travel to Berlin and ensure you do not have scheduling conflicts. All finalists that present in Berlin will have their flights and hotels covered by Atlassian.
