The Privacy4Web3 Hackathon | $40,000 in prizes and $25,000 in grants!

Web3 needs privacy that is customizable, cross-chain, and easily accessible to both users and developers. Oasis is pushing the limits on what is possible with privacy in crypto with the Oasis Privacy Layer, and we want you to join us. The Privacy4Web3 hackathon is an invitation for builders to experiment and innovate with the Oasis Privacy Layer, and to build privacy-enabled applications and tooling.

Who: You! …and any crypto-native friends
Why: On-chain privacy makes Web3 possible.

Our goal is to empower and motivate developers to build and become a part of the Oasis Ecosystem. Hackathon participants will:

  • Gain practical experience with Sapphire and the Oasis Privacy Layer
  • Gain access to live workshops led by Oasis engineers, and additional engineering support in the hackathon channels
  • Be invited to numerous events dedicated to the P4W3 hackathon, all meant to support them while building their projects
  • Become a part of the Oasis community, and meet other passionate developers
  • Have a chance to win prizes from a total pool of $40,000.
  • Have a chance to access a grant through the Oasis Grants Program, as $25.000 USD in grants have been allocated for the hackathon.

What is the Oasis Privacy Layer?

The Oasis Privacy Layer (“OPL”) is an EVM-compatible, privacy-first sidechain that opens new frontiers for confidential smart contracts in Web3 applications on the most popular Layer 1 networks like Ethereum, BNB Chain, and Polygon.

Grants

Winners of the hackathon will have the exciting opportunity to receive a portion of an additional $25,000 worth of follow-on grants to further extend their entry. Along with the grant, they will also gain valuable benefits such as marketing support, access to developers to review their code, and a prominent presence at the next community town hall where they can showcase and discuss their project.

What to Build?

A familiar EVM development environment with added confidentiality opens up a new world of opportunities for builders and Solidity developers across EVM networks.

  • If you are building or updating a dApp on an EVM network (e.g. Ethereum, BNB, Polygon, etc.), please join the hackathon as adding privacy with OPL might help improve your product/user experience.

  • If you’re interested in building a brand new privacy-enabled dApp on Sapphire, or use Sapphire to enable scalable off-chain privacy, you’re also welcome to join.

  • You want to contribute to documentation and standards? We got you covered as well.

What to Submit?

  • Demo video up to 3 minutes long

  • A text description explaining the features and functionality of your submission

  • An open source Github repository with a complete README
  • A way to test the project - link to the app or testing instructions
  • Complete submission form by the final deadline
